Who teaches
This is the part that matters most, and the part most providers are vaguest about. Our sessions are taught by people who do the work, not by people summarizing it.
The Hon. Justice Rick Libman, Ph.D.
Justice Libman has sat on the Ontario Court of Justice since 1996 and is the author of Libman on Regulatory Offences in Canada. He teaches our advocacy, evidence, ethics and professionalism sessions across all four licence classes. When he explains how a court weighs cross-examination or what makes written advocacy land, he is describing what he does from the bench. He also teaches our NCA and bar licensing preparation courses, so he works with candidates entering the profession as well as licensees maintaining their standing in it.
Melissa Harris
A former director of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, and a CPD educator since 2016. Inadmissibility and CBSA enforcement, with related work in humanitarian and compassionate applications, family sponsorship, and practice before the Refugee Protection Division.
Shandana Sohail
Temporary resident permits, LMIA recruitment and employer interviews with ESDC, and dependent child sponsorship.
Provincial offences, the Ontario Land Tribunal, municipal by-law offences and human rights. Also refugee protection reform, student visa practice, work authorisation, Express Entry and provincial nominee programmes, and professional ethics for consultants.
