ONTARIO LAWYER CPD • LSO AND LSBC • 2026 REPORTING YEAR

Year-end top-ups: which hours are you missing?

Both are short bundles for lawyers who have completed the greater part of their year. Neither completes the Professionalism requirement on its own. The question is which kind of hour you still need.

One question decides it
Do you still need your mandatory EDI hour?

If yes, Bundle 4-A secures it, alongside three substantive hours.

If your three accredited Professionalism hours are already complete and you need substantive hours only, Bundle 4-B is the one.
SECURES YOUR EDI HOUR, TWO PROFESSIONALISM HOURS SHORT
BUNDLE 4-A

EDI and Advocacy Top-Up

$45

Three November sessions pairing the mandatory EDI hour with advocacy and commercial law.

4.0 hours
1.0 Professionalism, which is the EDI hour
3.0 Substantive
Sessions. Advanced Cross-Examination. Commercial Law: Interpreting Modern Contracts. Unconscious Bias and Inclusive Client Service.
Choose this if. You have completed most of your year but have not yet secured the mandatory EDI hour.
Still needed for your year. 2.0 further accredited Professionalism hours. This bundle contains no Ethics hours and is a top-up to an existing Professionalism complement, not a stand-alone compliance solution.
NO PROFESSIONALISM HOURS AT ALL
BUNDLE 4-B

Substantive Top-Up

$49

Three late-year substantive sessions on inadmissibility, Charter remedies and sentencing consequences.

4.5 hours
0.0 Professionalism
4.5 Substantive
Sessions. Navigating Inadmissibility Grounds. Charter of Rights Remedies in POA and Summary Conviction Practice. Collateral Consequences and Sentencing.
Choose this if. You already hold your three accredited Professionalism hours and need substantive hours only before the year closes.
Still needed for your year. 3.0 accredited Professionalism hours, including 1.0 EDI hour, from an accredited provider. Substantive hours are never applied to the Professionalism requirement.
If you are considering both
Taking both gives you 8.5 hours for $94, but only 1.0 accredited Professionalism hour between them. You would still need 2.0 further Professionalism hours to meet the LSO minimum. If your Professionalism component is not yet settled, a larger bundle carrying all three hours is the better route.
Timing
Every session in both bundles falls between early November and mid-December. If you are relying on either to close a year-end gap, register early, as there is limited room to reschedule before the 31 December completion deadline. Recordings are released as on-demand video at no extra cost, so you can complete the hours after the live dates.

What the LSO requires of you in 2026

12 CPD hours each calendar year, including at least 3 accredited Professionalism hours, of which at least 1 must address equality, diversity and inclusion, plus up to 9 Substantive hours. Substantive hours are never applied to the Professionalism requirement. Complete by 31 December 2026 and report through the LSO Portal by 31 March 2027. Hours are not carried over. Under LSO requirements EDI hours sit within the Professionalism category, so the EDI session counts toward the Professionalism total rather than in addition to it.

Every session is delivered as a live, real time webinar with direct access to the educator, and released as on-demand video at no extra cost. All times are Eastern (Toronto). Navigating Inadmissibility Grounds is taught by Melissa Harris and also carries CICC approval. All other sessions are taught by the Hon. Justice Rick Libman, Ph.D., of the Ontario Court of Justice.

The shaded row above the rule is the only accredited Professionalism session in either bundle. No session appears in both, so taking both gives you 8.5 hours with nothing duplicated, but still only 1.0 of your 3.0 required Professionalism hours.

(CICC) marks a session that also carries College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants approval. Every session is delivered as a live, real time webinar and released as on-demand video at no extra cost, so you can complete either bundle at your own pace.
