Seminar summary
Cases involving Immigration applications having permanent or temp. status categories and pre-existing, ongoing and newly developed family or domestic disturbance-violence can be among the most challenging for legal professionals. The restrictions and anxieties that the pandemic has brought push the issue of violence and related complications into sharp focus. Never easy cases, the pandemic has confined many of those in abusive relationships to their homes, often with restricted access to supports, financial resources and the internet, creating additional challenges for clients to seek legal assistance.
This course offers practical tools, essential information, and vital strategies that will assist you to handle these sensitive cases. Tap into our presenters’ years of experience to understand how to recognize trauma, identify and screen for violence, and advise tailored remedies under IRPA or Criminal Law, and learn best practices in managing clients and staff.
