Regulatory Offences are different from Canadian Criminal Law. Offences committed in Canada have huge implications within Canadian Immigration law and various procedures. It is very important for legal professionals to understand the basics of Canadian Criminal Law specially the difference between regulatory offences and criminal codes: how decisions are made by the courts in Canada; the major difference between charge, conviction and being involved; and its application on individuals with immigration status and who are not Canadian citizens yet. This topic may assist attendees to learn about practical implications along with theory to understand issues involving clients in Canada relating to their involvement in various offences directly or indirectly, and to assist/advise clients accordingly. Professionalism: Shadowing clients and developing an understanding of the issues which may affect your clients.
